Busy Bee...

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Hi readers! Guess what? I'm going to put my writing skills to some use finally. I'm officially a new writer for my university newspaper, The Pan American. They were glad to accept me and I start reporter training soon. I've never done reporting before and I am ecstatic and ready to learn. This opportunity gives me the chance to dabble into reporting and write, of course. Also, I'll eventually start getting paid to write for school. How cool is that?! Now that I am almost twenty-three it's important for me to start learning new skills, volunteer and begin internships. I'm happy to say that I'll be doing all of them and I'll be extremely busy. I know it will be worth it to gain experience and to hopefully land a job as soon as I graduate. I still plan on attending graduate school but for that I am going to need money which means getting a higher paying job after graduating is much needed. I'm finally putting myself out there. I feel like I'm breaking out of my shell and doing things I'm not normally comfortable doing (aka talking to people, lol). My ultimate goal in my future career is to keep on writing and hopefully write for a magazine or newspaper. I know I can't do that where I currently live. I'm ready to venture out in the world and find my place. I can't wait to graduate. Here's to good things happening. (raises plastic cup filled with nothing) I hope you all are doing lovely!

Hello!

Hi all!
I hope you've been lovely. I miss writing in my blog, I always say it. I've just been trying to stay away from social media and sharing too much but then I figured it's not like I have many readers. I shouldn't care and I should just write what I feel whenever I want. So, I'm going to do that.

In December, I went to Denver, Colorado with Eddie. We had a great time. I did get altitude sickness which made me nauseated and sleepy my entire vacation. I still managed to enjoy myself because the city was pretty spectacular. We had great food, enjoyed museums (my favorite was the art museum), watched a film, visited book stores and record stores, went on a microbrew tour (super fun) and had another good airbnb experience.

After we returned back to Edinburg, it was time for the holidays. The holidays are less exciting the older you get. No one puts up lights anymore and everyone has fake trees. I still had fun with my family and I love buying gifts for my family, friends and boyfriend.

Then, In January I started my spring semester of school at UTPA. I am finally on track to graduate in December 2015. I'm super excited about that but also nervous about applying to graduate school. I know that I can't stay in Edinburg for my masters. I don't think I could handle it (I've been here long enough), I'm also getting too old to live at home. I also have to start studying for my GRE and I'm unsure about how many months I should study and when to take it. Oh well, I'll figure it out. This semester I'm taking eighteen hours and I have four upper level English courses, Spanish and Formal Logic. I'm managing my time well, I have reading and homework pretty much every day so it's hard to find time outside of school. I'm tired all the time now.

Besides that, everything is going well. I can't believe it is already February. Valentine's Day is coming up and Eddie and I are planning on going out to eat the day before during the afternoon. I can't stand crowds and waiting so going out on the day before sounds like a much better plan. February is also my birthday month. I'm not that excited to turn twenty-three. I feel so old, I guess I look young so that's a good thing.

Lately, I've been enjoying Parks and Recreation. The show is back for its seventh and final season. I already cried in the past few episodes that aired I don't think I can handle the finale. I'm sure I'll be crying the entire last episode, lol. I've also gotten into Marc Maron's podcast 'WTF' and I also listened to 'Serial' from This American Life. If you like hearing from your comedians and celebrities and how they started their career then listen to WTF. If you like hearing about serial killers and want to feel involved in a case then listen to Serial. They are both really interesting. Anyways, I'm rambling now here is a few of my favorites I can't get enough of lately.

Thanks for reading!
Love, Deb.
